Mt Skene Creek and Macalister River - 17-19 November 2023

This is where we went; Gunaikurnai Country.

When in the area, I always stop at this lookout of the Macalister River, just south of Licola.

Downtown Licola.

Rugged gorge on the Barkly River.

Equally as rugged on Middle Ridge Road.

The first section of Middle Ridge Road provided a couple obstacles for the Kluger but it was up to the challenge.

However, it met its match with this bog hole.

Camp by Mt Skene Creek.

Mt Skene Creek.

Starry night.

Macalister River.

There were 10 crossings of the Macalister River in total. Here are scenes from a few of them.

Cave.

Refreshing dip in the Macalister.

Up on the Blue Plains.

Grimme Creek.

Grimme Creek Track was steep and narrow so it wasn't ideal for a tree to fall in this spot! Luckily, someone else had already cleared the way.

Climbing up to Saltlick Saddle on Grimme Creek Track.

Up on Saltlick Saddle.

Dense forest on Bull Plain Road at Grimme Saddle.

Christening the Paj Sport this weekend.

Ouch! Unfortunately, 4WDs out of the factory these days aren't designed for offroading.

Lovin' life in the bush.

Cooked.

Water dragon.

Black snake, albeit one that had expired.

Some of the best meals I've ever had (not just whilst camping) were enjoyed on this trip.

Foggy final morning.

Glencairn Creek Valley.

Target Creek Valley.

Great weekend away!
