Bluff Hut and Howqua River - 28 April - 2 May 2025

This is where we went; Taungurung Country.

First night camp on the Bluff Track ridge.

Foggy.

Mt Eadley Stoney, which we were about to scale.

Scenes from the walk.

The final climb.

Spectacularly rugged summit.

Atop Mt Eadley Stoney.

Looking towards Mt Buller and Mt Stirling.

The Bluff hiding behind the clouds.

Looking towards Mt Cobbler, the Cobbler Plateau, Mt Koonika, Mt Speculation, Mt Buggery, The Crosscut Saw, Mt Howitt and Mt Magdala.

Bluff Hut.

This was a spot I frequented in the early days, when the hut looked a little different pre-multiple bushfires. Photo taken in the mid-90s.

Inside the hut.

The hut came in very handy as we sought shelter from the wind and rain.

Bluff Link Road.

The Bluff towering above.

Camp by the Howqua River.

Sun shower.

Breakfast stop at Bindaree Hut.

Loopy.

Pikes Flat.

The three of us first camped together at this very spot 15 years ago. Photos taken: 11 April 2010.

Returning to where it all began.

Rock slab crossing of the Howqua River at Bindaree Flat.

Tinned corned beef and luncheon meat on rice....a final night meal fit for a king!

No need for a fridge.

Needed a roaring fire to keep warm on a very crisp final night.

Just a tad on the cold side.

Stick insect.

Howqua Gap Hut.

Beautiful Delatite River.

Triple ton!

The setting sun.
